RCA commits Dh 213m for domestic programs in 2013

Abu Dhabi, Jan 27, 2013 (WAM) - The Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has committed Dh213 million as a preliminary budget for its domestic humanitarian programs in 2013, a 45% year-on-year increase. The announcement was made at a recent meeting by RCA's Higher Committee on Domestic Assistance. The budget will go to programs to sponsor orphans, provide medical aid, Ramadan rations, help for prisoners, students and the disabled, iftar programs, Zakat, Eid Al Adha sacrifice meat, maintain buildings and facilities and to support educational and social institutes. In remarks at the meeting, the Secretary General of RCA emphasised the interest of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of RCA in domestic assistance to needy people and families. The meeting which was chaired by deputy chairman of the committee, Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, emphasised the need for stronger partnerships with individuals and entities to keep up with humanitarian needs. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
