851 Hectares Of Paddy Field Inundated In N Sumatra
Langkat, North Sumatra, Feb 5 (ANTARA) - About 851 hectares of paddy field in Langkat district, North Sumatra, is inundated by flood during the past days, district`s Chief of Agriculture Office Haji Basrah Daulay said here on Tuesday.
Among paddy field inundated in the area are those located in Pematang Cengal village (387 hectares), Baja Kuning village (229 hectares), Pematang Cengal Barat (225 hectares) and Pekuban (10 hectares).
He explained the 70-100 centimeters-high flood happens due to incessant heavy rain that hit the area since Friday (Feb 1). No sign of rotten paddy plantation so far.
Indonesia is currently experiencing rainy season starting November 2012 to March 2013. In some part of the country incessant rain causes flood and landslide.
Among areas inundated by flood are North Sumatra province, South Sulawesi province, Banten, Jakarta and Papua.
