FOUR SINGAPOREANS ARRESTED FOR GAMBLING IN RIAU

Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands, Oct. 30 (ANTARA) - Police arrested four Singaporean nationals at Bintan Plaza, Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands Province, late Wednesday on gambling charges.

The four Singaporeans were identified by their initials as MZ, AH, MF, and JM. The police seized Rp560,000 in cash, two sets of playing cards and passports from them.

According to MZ, they had arrived in Tanjungpinang only on Wednesday afternoon and had played cards just for fun and with very small sums of money.

"We didn't play cards for money. It was just to kill the time while waiting for a karaoke room," MZ said.

He said they came to Tanjungpinang almost once every two months to fish.

Meanwhile, Tanjungpinang Police Chief Commissioner Critian Tory said the police would process the gambling case.
