Higher Committee for Dubai, UAE Expo 2020 meets to review ongoing bid preparations

Abu Dhabi, Feb 20, 2013 (WAM) - The UAE's Higher Committee for Hosting the 2020 World Expo in Dubai held a meeting on Monday 18th February, 2013 chaired by H.H. Sheikh Ahmad bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of the Higher Committee. The committee's discussions focused on reviewing preparations for the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) delegation that will be visiting the UAE to assess the country's feasibility to host the World Expo 2020. The delegation will include diplomats from voting nations of the BIE who will make their final decision in November this year. The committee underlined the importance of the visit as a decisive stage in the country's bid. Supported by key facts and information included in the UAE's official Bid Dossier submitted to the BIE last December, results of the visits will help BIE member countries to form their opinions and decide among the five contesting cities including Dubai. The support from the UAE community was highlighted at the meeting and the committee expressed its gratitude to both the public and private sector for their efforts.
