Jakarta, Oct 31 (ANTARA) - Foreign Ministry Spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said no date had been fixed for a meeting between President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and former Japanese prime minister Yasuo Fukuda who is expected to visit Indonesia from October 31 to November 4, 2008.
"There is a request of the former Japanese prime minister to meet the president or the vice president but the presidential protocol is still processing the request," Faizasyah said here on Friday.
The foreign ministry spokesman said that the former Japanese prime minister was scheduled to arrive in Jakarta on Friday night. He was scheduled to attend a meeting of an Indonesia-Japan Friendship Association (PPIJ).
Yasuo Fukuda will be visiting Indonesia to attend a seminar on "Indonesia-Japan Expo 2008" in Jakarta from November 1 to 4, 2008.
This year Indonesia and Japan are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations which were officially established in January 1958.
The Indonesia - Japan Expo 2008 which is held in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, will be opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and also attended by the anniversary's organizing committee chairman Ginandjar Kartasasmita.
