Golkar, PBB Agree To Coalesce In Padang Mayor Race

Padang, W Sumatra, March 28 (Antara) - The Golkar Party and the Crescent and Star Party (PBB) will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to lay a basis for coalition in the Padang mayor election scheduled for October 2013. "We will sign an MoU in April 2013. It will serve as approval of coalition between the two parties in nominating the same pair of candidates for the 2013 Padang mayor election," Wahyu Iramana Putra, the chief of the Golkar Party`s city executive board in Padang, capital of West Sumatra province, said here on Thursday. The two parties agree to coalesce after they have failed to nominate their own candidates as the number of their seats in the city legislative council falls short of requirements. That the two parties have the same vision and mission in developing the city is the reason behind the coalition, he said. With the MoU, the coalition between the two parties will become a positive decision, chief of the PBB chapter in Padang city Zulkifli Aziz said. Zulkifli said PPB is in the process of selecting its best cadre to run for the Padang mayor. He said he is ready to advance to the mayor election if the party supports him.
