UAE is making steady progress towards knowledge-driven economy: Nahyan

Abu Dhabi, April 1, 2013 (WAM) - The UAE has made remarkable achievements in its quest for developing a knowledge-based economy and a vibrant community in a short span of time thanks to the able leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development. In a keynote address to the inaugural 2013 BCS International IT Conference, Sheikh Nahyan said the 21st century is a one of promising opportunities. ''We must pursue our efforts to build a sustainable community and open, economy which can compete globally,'' Sheikh Nahyan said quoting Sheikh Khalifa. Sheikh Nahyan also commended visions of Vice President and Prime Minister of the and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for supporting UAE's commitment to building knowledge-driven economy. In line with the Abu Dhabi 2030 Vision, the conference will see the coming together of the finest leaders in IT from industry and academia, addressing leading-edge, up-to-date, high-impact business IT trends and technologies. The theme of this year s conference is "Towards 21st Century Innovation" and will see a comprehensive program of industry and academia parallel sessions covering different tracks in addition to a number of distinguished keynote speakers. The Conference is hosted by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, Middle East Section and is organized under the Patronage of Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan. This prestigious conference promises outstanding contributions over two days, with thought provoking keynote sessions from IBM, AVIVA, Gartner and many world-class specialists made up from Industry and academia's finest.
