Turkey, Britain to hold political consultations

Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 April / Trend R.Hafizoglu / Turkey and Britain will hold political consultations, according to a statement released on Saturday by the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey. According to the information, political consultations between the foreign ministers of the two countries are scheduled for April 15 in Turkey. It is expected that the consultations will focus on regional issues as well as the process of Turkey's accession to the EU. The basis of relations between Turkey and the EU were established in the framework of the agreement signed in 1964 in Ankara. According to the EU statement, the Copenhagen criteria adopted in 2002 are the basis for Turkey's membership in the European Union. Since 2002, Turkey has undertaken major political and economic reforms in accordance with the Copenhagen criteria. The talks on Turkey's EU membership began in 2005 and continue to the present.
