Those silent on Bahrain oppression back terrorists in Syria: Iran

TEHRAN,April 17(MNA) – A top Iranian security official said that those who are keeping mum on the suppression of the Bahraini people are supporting terrorist groups in Syria. Saeed Jalili, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, made the remarks in a meeting with Omani Advisory Council (Majles A’Shura), Khalid bin Hilal Al Mawali, in Tehran on Tuesday. He also said that the strategic and deep-rooted relationship between Iran and Oman is the pillar of security in the region. He added the energy security in the Persian Gulf region is due to the cooperation between the two countries in maintaining security in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Jalili went on to say that Iran and Oman face common threats and share common interests and goals and that the two countries have set an epitome of regional cooperation in rejecting foreign dominance. The senior Iranian official also said the enemies are seeking to create sectarian strife among Muslims and dry up the great potential of the Muslim world. He added the West is making efforts to divert the Muslims’ attention from Israeli atrocities and violation of the Palestinians’ rights through media. For his part, the Omani official called for an expansion of cooperation between the two countries in all areas, emphasizing that it can pave the ground to resolve regional disputes. Al Mawali also praised the influential role of Iran in regional and international relations, saying that Arab countries hail Iran’s firm policy in defending the oppressed people of Palestine. Al Mawali also held a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Saturday and discussed ways to promote relations as well as peace in the region.
