Technopolises to be established in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 29 / Trend I. Isabalaeva / The commercialisation of research results will become one of the main priorities of the state policy in the field of science and research activities in Azerbaijan, the country's Milli Mejlis (Parliament) told Trend on Monday. This issue is covered by the new draft law 'On Science'. According to the draft law, special zones and technopolises will be established based on the combination of scientific institutions and universities with knowledge-intensive manufacturing enterprises operating in the country. A technopolis is a scientific and industrial complex created for the production of new progressive products or the development of new high technologies based on the close relationship and cooperation between universities and scientific and technical centres. It includes compactly arranged modern scientific and industrial institutions with developed infrastructures providing necessary conditions for work and rest, the carrying out of research and educational institutions that are part of those entities as well as enterprises, companies and firms producing new products based on advanced science-intensive technology. By combining science, technology and entrepreneurship, technopolis provides for close collaboration between academia, entrepreneurs, local and central authorities. Do you have any feedback?
