RCA honours Emirati young inventor

Abu Dhabi, May 1, 2013 (WAM) - The Red Crescent Authority (RCA) yesterday honoured nine-year-old Emirati Adeeb Al Balushi for his inventions which are designed to help the disabled. Al Balushi, at the ceremony at RCA headquarters, demonstrated his inventions which include a smart wheelchair equipped with a link to satellites, a voice-activated and GPS-linked device to help visually impaired persons to avoid obstacles such as water, light poles and stones. The youngster also invented a cleaning robot and a seat belt heart monitor to help save the lives of people with high blood pressure and heart disease. Mohammed Yousef Al Fahim, Deputy Secretary General for Support Services at RCA urged the youth to follow Al Balushi's model and to tap the modern scientific and educational capabilities and resources provided by the government. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
