Envoy: Tehran Meeting Can Help Resolve Syrian Crisis

Baku, May 28, IRNA – Iranˈs ambassador to Baku Mohsen Pakaein said that upcoming Syrian friends meeting in Tehran is to help the country to get rid of crisis. In an interview with Azerbaijan Republic Trend News Agency, Pakaein said that presence of countries and international organizations in Tehran indicates that world public opinion intends to settle Syrian crisis through a political solution and also attaches importance to Iranˈs international role. He said that Iran is determined to settle Syrian crisis through negotiation and presenting a plan in this concern shows Iranˈs interest to end the crisis. Since the beginning of Syrian crisis, Iran believed that the issue has only a political solution, so persuaded Syrian government to hold dialogue with opposition and carry out reforms. He continued that Iran has always helped Syria and, in current crisis, has dispatched medicine, foodstuffs, fuel and wheat flour to decrease pressures on Syrian people, while some other countries have sent weapons to Syria to sow discord among people and demolish the country. He said these countries should be accountable for their acts before world and Syrian public opinion. The ambassador said that support of some countries for radical groups in Syria endangers peace and security of regional nations, adding that they are responsible for demolishing the country./end
