FM Official: Iran Supports Democracy-Oriented Solutions To Syria Crisis

Tehran, May 28, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian said Iran supports solutions to the Syrian crisis based on democracy and holding free elections in the country. He made the remark in a meeting with the French Foreign Ministry General Director for the North Africa and Middle East affairs Jean Francois Giroux. Condemning foreign intervention in Syria domestic affairs, he said Iran supports both the Syrian government and nation as well as those opponents who believe in democratic approaches including holding a free election that enables the nation to decide for its own destiny. Outlining Iran’s views on Syria and other regional developments, he said France was expected to help hinder further aggravation of violence and critical conditions in Syria which could spread extremism in the whole region as well as the globe.
