VP TO OFFICIALLY CLOSE PMI VOLUNTEERS' MEETING
Banten, Nov. 6 (ANTARA) - Vice President M Jusuf Kalla was scheduled to officially close the fourth meeting of Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) volunteers in Pandeglang, Banten Province, on Thursday.
The meeting since October 30, 2008, was participated in by around 1,700 PMI volunteers from Indonesia and 35 foreign volunteers from China, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Germany, the Netherlands, and Hong Kong.
Among the activities organized during the meeting were a free medical treatment service for local people and a blood donation drive among the meeting's participants, according to a PMI press release.
Some 2,700 people from five villages, namely Pasuruan, Umbul Tanjung, Sukanegara, Kwoyang and Sukarame, made use of the free medical treatment service.
