Iranˈs Indigenous Guided Missile Destroyer Joins Navy

Bandarabbas, Hormuzgan Prov, June 9, IRNA – The new indigenous guided missile destroyer dubbed ˈBayandorˈ officially joined the Iranian Navy here Tuesday. In a ceremony attended by the commander of Army General Ataollah Salehi, the 50-year old Bayandor destroyer joined the Iranian naval fleet after undergoing major repairs work and being equipped with various state-of-art systems. The Navyˈs deputy chief for technical affairs, Rear Admiral Abbas Zamin said overhauling the Bayandor destroyer completed within 20 months. Zamini said the destroyer is 83 meters long, 10 meters wide, 23 meters high from the deck and weighs 135 tons. It enjoys a speed of 20 knots./end
