Deputy FM: Iran Welcomes Geneva 2 Conference On Syria

Moscow, June 12, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Tuesday that Iran welcomes Geneva 2 Conference on Syria crisis. Amir-Abdollahian who is visiting Moscow, told reporters that in his long talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov they had fully discussed Geneva 2 Conference. From the beginning of the civil war in Syria, Tehran and Moscow were unanimous that a political solution to the crisis should be found, he said. Abdollahian added that Iran positively considers its possible presence in Geneva 2 Conference. He reiterated that none of the countries to participate in the conference has the right to talk on behalf of the Syrian people and all regional and extra-regional countries should prepare the ground for the Syrian people to decide about their own destiny./end
