S. Korea seeks to tap into Libyan defense industry
SEOUL, Nov. 8 (Yonhap) -- South Korea will send a government-civilian delegation to the first international defense fair in Libya next week as part of efforts to make inroads into the defense industry in the northern African nation, officials said Saturday.
The delegation, to be led by Yang Chi-kyu, commissioner of the Defense
Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), will take part in the Libyan Defence,
Security & Safety Exhibition to be held at the Mitiga airport in Tripoli from
Nov. 10-13, according to DAPA officials.
Delegates include representatives from South Korean defense firms, such as Hanwha
Group affiliates and Doosan Infracore, they added.
"The delegation plans to publicize various equipment developed by South Korea and
support local defense companies' marketing activity," a DAPA official said.
