Iran Diplomat: Enemies Of Islam Sowing Seeds Of Discord In Syria

Damascus, July 2, IRNA – Iranˈs Ambassador to Syria, Mohammad-Reza Rauf Sheibani said on Monday that enemies of Islam today want to sow seeds of discord in Syria. In a meeting with Syrian Minister of Awqaf (Religious Endowments), Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed, in Damascus, Sheibani said the fatwa issued by certain Wahabi and sold-out ulema with regards to the crisis in Syria further reveals their real nature to the world. The Iranian diplomat said under present juncture, the most important duty of true ulema of Islam is to enlighten Muslims on such plots and conspiracies. Pointing to a meeting to be held in Beirut in the coming days, Sheibani said the meeting to be attended by Shiite and Sunni ulema would shed more light on the diversionary line in some Muslim states and would introduce the true nature of Islam. Condemning provocative moves in Egypt which led to the killing of four Shia Muslims, he said, ˈThis stems from some fatwas issued by certain plotters. So, Muslims should be cautioned on such plots.ˈ He pointed out that the fatwa issued by certain Sunni ulema in Arab states declaring Jihad in Syria only serves the divisive plots of enemies. The Syrian Minister congratulated the election win of Hassan Rohani in recent presidential poll in Iran.ˈ The two sides in the meeting also discussed latest developments in the region./end
