Mohammed bin Rashid visits Dubai Municipality for briefing on service projects

Dubai, July 3, 2013 (WAM) - Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, yesterday visited Dubai Municipality as part of His Highness' follow-up to the performance of the institutions and bodies and government departments at federal and local levels. During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and was briefed on service projects carried out by Dubai Municipality to be implemented in the next phase of the municipal plan for the future. Sheikh Mohammed listened to an explanation from Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, and his assistants, which included a description of sewage plant projects in Jebal Ali and other places along with a number of future projects. Sheikh Mohammed emphasised the importance of teamwork and coordination between all departments and entities, saying, "We are all walking in one direction and we have to walk a straight path to get to the end of the road, and beyond, successfully". Sheikh Mohammed also assessed the plans and designs of the nautical snail -shaped Maritime Museum of the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary. The Dh35 million unique architectural masterpiece in terms of form and content will enable visitors to enjoy the sight of rare birds and the dazzling nature of the reserve. Sheikh Mohammed watched a presentation of the Mini World Park project, designed to showcase replicas of famous monuments all over the world. The park is the first of its kind in the Arab world. Once completed, it will be the 41st in the records of the International Association of Miniature Parks (IAMP). Sheikh Mohammed also reviewed the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Library project, which reflects Dubai's cultural spirit and Sheikh Mohammed's keenness of the cultural movement. The library is a unique architectural masterpiece, designed in the form of a book bearer or an open book, and will accommodate over one million books on display as well as 1.2 million books in storage. Commending the municipality's efforts and its unremitting endeavour to provide all means of comfort to citizens and residents of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed affirmed that Dubai Municipality is a service body par excellence and plays a key and crucial role in the process of building, social, environmental and tourist development. Sheikh Mohammed also ordered Dubai Director General and the civic body officials for promoting Dubai's entertainment and tourist features, especially Mushrif Park, which is one of the first and most important public parks in Dubai and needs more attention and care from the municipality and other related bodies. Sheikh Mohammed emphasised the need for coordination between Dubai Municipality and departments and other bodies in Dubai, especially Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM). He stressed the importance of teamwork and coordination among all departments and entities, saying "We are all moving in one direction and we have to follow a straight path to get to the end of the road and beyond successfully". Sheikh Mohammed praised Dubai Municipality's bid to register Dubai Creek as one of UNESCO's world heritage sites, signing a document in this regard. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
