Financial transactions through UAESWITCH up 5.3% in Q2

Abu Dhabi, Aug 1, 2013 (WAM) - Central Bank of the UAE announced that the statistics of the UAESWITCH for the 2nd quarter of 2013 have shown an increase in the number and value of financial transactions, carried-out electronically through the UAESWITCH. The total number of financial transactions has increased by 5.3%, from 16.898 million transactions in the first quarter of 2013 to 17.788 million transactions in the second quarter of the same year. The total value of financial transactions also increased by 6.5%, from Dh 23.676 billion in the first quarter of 2013 to Dh 25.219 billion in the second quarter of the same year. As regards the financial transactions carried-out through connections of the UAESWITCH to the GCC Switches, their total number decreased by 9.3%, from 1.120 million transactions in the first quarter of 2013 to 1.016 million transactions in the second quarter of the same year. The total value of the financial transactions, also, decreased by 9.6% from Dh 1.799 billion in the first quarter of 2013 to Dh 1.626 billion in the second quarter of the same year. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
