1.5 million sheep to be imported for Hajj

Riyadh/Jeddah, November 10, SPA -- A Ministry of Commerce report
expects one and a-half million sheep to be imported before the
beginning of the Hajj season, with 500,000 alone for the Sacrificial
Meat Project.

This is in addition to sheep stock already in the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia. The report also reveals ministry plans to ensure that food
standards and pricing are maintained in markets and stalls in Makkah
and Madinah, and that pilgrim housing requirements are met in hotels
and furnished apartments in Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah and Taif,
according to a report published by Arabic Newspaper "Okaz" and quoted
today by Saudi Gazette.
