JAKARTA STOCK EXCHANGE INDEX DOWN SLIGHTLY
Jakarta, Nov 11 (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Stock Exchange composite index (IHSG) was closed 4.120 points lower at 1,336.56 on Tuesday while the LQ45 was down 1.07 points at 261.63.
Research analyst of PT Valbury Asia Securities Krisna Dwi Setiawan told ANTARA, the IHSG was down because of the weakening of regional stock exchange indexes, particularly Hong Kong's Hang Seng index that slumped 700 points to 14,040.90.
"The IHSG dropped because regional stock exchange indexes were down. However, the IHSG's drop was countervailed by a strengthening of commodity shares," he said.
Among the shares that had led the downturn were Telkom shares dropping Rp50 to Rp6,100, Aneka Tambang declining by Rp30 to Rp1,090 and Indofood shares down Rp40 to Rp970.
Several commodity shares prevented the slump to go further down such as Perusahaan Gas Negara shares that were up Rp40 to Rp1,920 and International Nickel gaining Rp130 to Rp2.200.
Bank Rakyat Indonesia shares meanwhile were up Rp25 to Rp3,700 while United Tractors rose Rp125 to Rp4,075 and Astra International increased Rp200 to Rp10,150.
The trading that day was quite busy worth Rp1.256 trillion, dominated by gaining shares (90 stocks). The number of shares that dropped was only five while the price of 57 other shares remained unchanged.
