Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation sends shipment of dates for Syrian refugees in Lebanon

Beirut: Under the directives of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and follow-up and supervision of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation (KBZF) has sent a shipment containing dates to be distributed to Syrian refugees in Lebanese cities. Mohammad Haji Al Khoury, director-general of KBZF said that the shipment weighing about 26 tons is an extension of the relief operations currently in progress for Syrian refugees in a number of regions and cities in Lebanon. "The foundation is following up the humanitarian situation, since the beginning of worsening conditions caused by the current events in Syria and responded immediately according to the program prepared for this purpose, targeting families," he remarked. These dates will be distributed to the Syrian refugees in coordination with the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Lebanon and the Union of Local Municipalities, which have census records of the total number of displaced people. He vowed that the foundation will continue its humanitarian efforts to improve the lives of Syrian refugees and alleviate their sufferings. He also praised the role of UAE embassy in Lebanon led by Hamad Mohammed Al Juneibi, the Charge d'Affaires, for its efforts to facilitate the work of the Foundation in providing aid and assistance to the brotherly Syrian people in Lebanon. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
