Takatof volunteers participate in construction of low-income houses in Jordan

Abu Dhabi: (WAM) - Nine of Emirates Foundation's 'Takatof' volunteers are participating in the Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) project on the establishment and renovation of houses for needy and low-income families in Ajloun, Jordan. Takatof volunteers will participate over seven days in the implementation of construction processes by giving 500 hours of voluntary work. Maitha Al Habsi, Chief Executive Officer of the Department of the programmes in the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development, said that such campaigns are a cornerstone of the Takatof programme of international volunteering work and contribute to achieving valuable and positive social value for both parties. The Emirates Foundation established Takatof in Abu Dhabi in April 2007 to raise awareness of community needs, empower UAE individuals and encourage them to participate in specific volunteering opportunities, thereby promoting the concept of volunteering as a way of life. Takatof's primary purposes are to encourage people to volunteer and to mobilise both people and resources in the UAE to deliver creative solutions that meet community needs. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
