N. Sumatra To Propose 'Sail Mansalaar' In 2015

Pandan, N Sumatra, Sept 11 (Antara) - The administration of the Central Tapanuli District, North Sumatra Province, is planning to host "Sail Mansalaar" in 2015 as part of Sail Indonesia`s international maritime event. In remarks made here on Wednesday, Iwan Sinaga, spokesman of the Central Tapanuli district administration, said Sail Mansalaar is expected to boost tourism to the province. North Sumatra has many tourist spots, including the beautiful Mursala Island, located in Central Tapanuli, he added. The island`s waterfall---the only one to be located in the middle of the sea---will become the icon of Sail Mansalaar 2015, he stated. Some 12 to 14 thousand tourists visit Central Tapanuli every month. The annual Sail Indonesia event covers different primary destinations, including Sail Bunaken in North Sulawesi in 2009, Sail Banda in Maluku Province (2010), Sail Wakatobi Belitung (2011), Sail Morotai in North Maluku Province (2012), Sail Komodo in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) in 2013, and Sail Tomini in Central Sulawesi in 2014.
