Rohani’s UN Visit To Help Resolve Syrian Crisis: Journalist

Islamabad, Sept 22, IRNA – A renowned Pakistani journalist on Saturday said that President Hassan Rohani’s visit to New York could lead to settlement of the crisis in Syria.
President Rohani, heading a delegation will visit New York to attend the UN General Assembly meeting.
The 68th annual summit meeting of the UN General Assembly will start next week in the presence of senior officials from 193 countries.
Talking to IRNA Asma Shirazi said that President Rohani is an important leader of the world. She said that visit of the Iranian President to UN is coming at a time when crisis in Syria is posing a threat to the world peace.
The analyst said that during his speech at UN, Rohani would give a message of peace and friendship from his nation to the world.
She said that the Iranian President in the visit would also convince the world leaders regarding right of Iran towards peaceful nuclear program. “President Rohani would definitely use the UN platform to highlight world issues” she said.
Expressing views on the expected meeting of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with President Rohani on the margins of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), she said that the meeting would help further enhance bilateral ties.
She said that situation in Syria would be discussed between the two leaders, adding that the meeting would provide an opportunity for the two countries to play a key role in restoring peace to the region.
Asma Shirazi said that Iran-Pakistan (IP) project is likely to be discussed in the meeting, adding that the project is very important for the Pakistani nation.
“People of Pakistan want Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project to be completed at the earliest,” added the journalist./end
