Quake Hits Maluku

Ambon, Maluku, Oct 3 (Antara) - An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale shook Maluku Tenggara Barat district, Maluku Province, on Thursday morning, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The epicenter of the quake which struck at 07.21 a.m. local time was located 178 km southwest of the district at a depth of 133 km, the BMKG office in Ambon said. There was no immediate report of casualties or material damage. Maluku is one of quake-and tsunami-prone provinces in Indonesia as it is located in the meeting of Pacific, Indo-Australia and Eurasia faults.
