UAE wins seat at ICAO council

Montreal: The UAE won a seat on the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Council, in the elections held last night at the organisation's head office in Montreal, Canada. The UAE received 158 votes compared with 146 votes in the previous session of ICAO Council elections. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Mohammed Saif Helal Al Shehhi, the UAE Ambassador to Canada, and Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, the General Director of GCAA, were present at the voting at ICAO. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
