Toshiba Picks ADC Power Concept As Distributor For Modular Data Centres In Southeast Asia

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 (Bernama) -- Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (TAPL) has appointed Malaysia-based ADC Power Concept Sdn Bhd as its distributor in Southeast Asia to reinforce its regional sales network for modular data centres. Data centres are the workhorses of the Internet, storage hubs for the ever-growing volumes of data essential for industry, commerce and the digital lifestyles. With this appointment, ADC Power Concept, based in Selangor state, will support TAPL's business growth strategy and promote sales by drawing on its extensive experience in the Malaysian and Southeast Asian market, especially in industrial fields. "It will offer the modular data centres as integrated systems consisting of the housing unit, the servers and their related equipment and air-conditioning system," TAPL said in a statement here Thursday. With the cooperation of ADC Power Concept, TAPL will seek to promote further sales in Southeast Asia, as part of its strategy to expand its global business in energy efficient and competitive modular data centres. The original modular was developed and proved by Toshiba in Japan, and modified to meet the exacting requirements of the tropics in a 2012 project with Singapore's Nanyang Technological University. It was found that the system has the potential to cut annual power consumption per capacity by some 30 per cent by circulating unrefrigerated ambient air in the cooling system, even in tropical zones. -- BERNAMA
