Anti Graft Agency Grills Secretary General Of Constitutional Court
Jakarta, Oct 11 (Antara) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) here on Friday questioned Secretary General of the Constitutional Court (MK) Jenedri M Gaffar over alleged bribery case in connection with the election of the Gunung Mas and Lebal district heads.
"(I am being grilled) as a witness for Mr Akil Mochtar," Gaffar said upon his arrival at the KPK building.
The anti-graft agency on Friday also questioned 10 other witnesses in the same case, including Secretary General of the Indonesian Parliament Winantuningtyastiti, Secretary of the Gunung Mas district administration Kamiar, Yayah Rodiah, Mumu Mujahidin, Almin Aling alias Cuming, Abdul Rohman from the private sector, Teguh Wahyudi of the Constitutional Court, Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah, Akil Mochtar`s driver Daryono and Gunung Mas District Head Hambit Bintih.
Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Akil Mochtar has been named as a suspect by the KPK for allegedly receiving a bribe when handling a dispute concerning the results of local elections in Lebak and Gunung Mas districts.
Other suspects in the Gunung Mas local election case include legislator Chairun Nisa, Gunung Mas District Head Hambit Bintih and Cornelis Nalau of the private sector.
The KPK seized 284,050 Singaporean dollars and 22 thousand US dollars from Akil Mochtar`s house on October 2, 2013.
In the Lebak local election case, the KPK has named Akil Mochtar, Susi Tur Handayani, and Tubagus Chaery Wardhana as suspects. The KPK also seized Rp1 billion from Susi`s house.
Additionally, the agency has banned Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah, Lebak district head candidate Amir Hamzah and his deputy candidate Kasmin bin Saelan, Mochtar`s wife Ratu Rita Akil, and his driver Daryono from leaving Indonesia.
