UAE is keen to build regional and international partnerships for serving poor communities: Lubna

Abu Dhabi: The UAE is keen to build constructive regional and international partnerships so as to actively contribute to addressing current international issues and supporting development efforts in developing communities in poor countries, Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Co-operation, said on Monday.
Sheikha Lubna also highlighted the pivotal role the U.N. plays in this respect at a meeting with Mukhisa Kituyi, Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
Sheikha Lubna discussed with Kituyi means of enhancing UAE-UNCTAD joint cooperation and mechanisms of sharing expertise for supporting international development, improving development indices in developing countries and laying down solid foundations and mechanisms for sustainable development.
The UNCTAD chief lauded the UAE for scoring high in key international development indices and its significant contributions in delivery of humanitarian and developmental aid to poor and developing countries.
He also commended the progressive UAE-UN partnership, which, he said, has had a positive impact on the international humanitarian and development landscape. – Emirates New Agency, WAM
