Iran Attains Goals In Sustained Growth: UN Envoy

Tehran, Oct 22, IRNA -- UN Resident Coordinator in the Islamic Republic of Iran Gary Lewis said on Tuesday that Iran has attained its goals in achieving sustained growth. Lewis made the remarks during a ceremony to commemorate UN Day held at Foreign Ministry’s Institute for Political and International Studies. Sustained growth is enshrined in the UN Charter and has to be expanded all over the world, he stated. One of the objectives of the United Nations is to safeguard peace, the UN envoy said, adding, the United Nations is obliged to prevent violence and promote growth and security around the world. “We have to use new technologies and scientific ideas and so launch our new website in Iran,” he said. A number of Iranian Foreign Ministry officials, ambassadors, Administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Helen Clark who is on an official visit to Tehran and Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi were present at the ceremony./end
