UAE announces 2014 donation for UN bodies

New York: The UAE announced in the United Nations on Monday a donation of US$1.7 million (Dh6.24 million) to various UN bodies for 2014. The UAE said it will later announce the amount that will be given to other humanitarian and development funds affiliated with the UN. A total of US$1 million will be used for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), US$324,000 for the UN Development Programme, US$200,000 for the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), US$100,000 for the UN Children Fund (UNICEF), and US$100,000 for the Red Cross. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
