New trial begins against Georgian former Defence Minister Bacho Akhalaia

Tbilisi, Georgia, Nov.18 By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend: The trial against Georgia's former Defence Minister Bacho Akhalaia on the Girgvliani murder case will begin on Nov.18. According to the defence explanations, Akhalaia doesn't recognize the charges against him. Recall, a few days ago a new charge was put forward against Akhalaia. According to the prosecutor's office, Akhalaia was accused of abuse of power. It should be noted that according to the already conducted 4th trial, Akhalaia was acquitted in two cases. On one of them he got 3.9 years in prison, but was pardoned by former President Mikheil Saakashvili. Currently, Bacho Akhalaia is still in prison, as on the current case he was sentenced to two months in prison as a preventive measure.
