Fourth News Agencies World Congress begins in Riyadh

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 19 By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend: The Fourth News Agencies World Congress (NAWC) started on Nov.19 in Riyadh under the patronage of Saudi king Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. Trend International News Agency was invited to participate at the congress. Totally, over 70 news agencies from around the world and some 30 representatives of specialised media and experts on information technologies and communications are taking part at the congress. It is expected that the president and CEO of Associated Press Gary Pruitt, Managing Director of Reuters Stephen Schwartz, president and CEO of Agency France-Press Emmanuel Hoog, president and CEO of EFE agency Jose Antonio Vera, Director General of ITAR-TASS Sergei Mikhailov and others will speak at the conference. The head of Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the chairman of the Fourth World Congress Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein said that the event is aimed at improvement of activity of news agencies, as namely they are the main producers of news in the world despite of increasing emergence of new media.
