PM: Russian capital able to play more important role in Turkey’s economy

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 21 By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend: Russian capital is able to play a more important role in Turkey's economy, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in his interview to "Russian newspaper" published on Nov.21. According to Erdogan, Moscow and Ankara have many contact points. "Turkey implements many serious projects in Sochi where the Winter Olympic Games will be held. I am confident that Russia will make history thanks to the Olympic Games - 2014 and our contractors working there will be involved in this history," the prime minister said. He added that the stability in Turkey allows to expand the access of the international capital to the country. According to Erdogan, during some eleven years the foreign capital volume amounted to $122 billion in Turkey. One of the reasons for significant achievements in Turkey's economy was that the country's government didn't separate the economy from democracy, the prime minister said. "For the time of our coming to power, Turkey's export amounted to $36 billion, however, currently our export amounts to $155 billion, he said. Erdogan also emphasized the current strong development in the banking sector of Turkey. According to the prime minister, it is planned to open two significant projects in the country in 2015. The third bridge across the Bosphorus is one of them. "Currently, the bridge piles have already risen to a height of about 70 meters. The second project is two tunnels under the Bosphorus, which will be laid one above the other and are designed for the passage of vehicles, " Erdogan said.
