Health Ministry approves usage of 'SINGULAIR MONTLEUKAST' drug
SPA - Riyadh, November 17, SPA -- The Health Ministry has advised
patients who use 'SINGULAIR MONTLEUKAST" for treating problems of
seasonal allergy, either for adults or children, to go ahead on using
this medicine.
The Ministry urged the physicians to immediately report in case of
side affects of this drug to the medicine follow-up department at the
Health Ministry.
In a statement released here today, the Health Ministry quoted the
website of the American Food and Medicine Organization (FDA) as
saying that there is a change in the psychological behavior of the
patients who use the aforesaid medicine, and that the Organization is
currently investigating the possibility of existence of any relation
between the usage of this medicine and occurrence of these symptoms.
The organization said in a statement issued on March 27, 2008 that
the available information is not adequate to take a decision in this
respect, and researches on the issue may take nine months prior to
the issuance of the final decision.
