Some eight people detained in connection with skirmish in Zagatala region

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 27 Trend: Prosecutor General's Office and Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan issued an official statement on the skirmish in Zagatala region. According to the report, a serious crime was committed in Zagatala region on Nov.24. As a result of shooting of Hyundai Elantra car by VAZ-2107 car with a gunfire in Yukhari Tala village, the car passengers - a resident of Balakan region Kamil Gushanov, residents of Baku Vasif Jafarov and Vugar Rajabov - were killed and the driver - a resident of Balakan region Vusal Aligayev - was injured. Taking into account the severity of the crime and the broad public resonance, an operational investigative group consisting of professional staff was established according to the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General's Office. The group was immediately sent to the scene, and all the necessary procedural, operative investigation measures were taken. It was established on the "hot pursuit" that this serious crime was committed by Samir Osmanov who was previously convicted and others. As a result of operational activities the participants of the crime were detained. They are: Samir Osmanov, driver of VAZ-2107 car Bahruz Layijov, his brothers Vugar and Eldaniz, Vusal Aligayev, Parviz Garayev, Aydin Sayilov and Omar Orujov. Through the operative investigation measures there were seized material evidences that are significant for the investigation including one machine gun used during the crime, one cartridge clip, nine cartridges for machine gun and one kitchen knife. As part of the continuation of measures in this direction there was conducted a search in the house belonging to Bahruz and his brother Harun Layijov who is currently under arrest. As a result of the search there was found a machine gun of German production, five hand grenades, four radio stations, one gun for missiles, 18 rockets, 823 cartridges of different calibers, one sound grenade, long-distance explosive detector mechanism, a mask, handcuffs, a variety of ammunition, as well as about eight kilograms of drugs. Criminal case has been initiated on the fact on the Articles 120.2.7 and 228.1 of Azerbaijan's Criminal Code. Currently, the investigative and operative search measures on investigation of this crime are underway.
