Sanid Volunteers receive emergency response training in United States

Dearborn, Michigan: Ten Emirati volunteers from Sanid, which means "support" in Arabic, an emergency response programme developed by Emirates Foundation for Youth Development, have successfully undergone emergency response training in Dearborn, Michigan, during their first visit to the United States. As part of their international volunteering project, the group of volunteers from the UAE spent more than 40 hours learning the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) best practices at first hand, as well as engaging in First Aid and CPR sessions. Maytha Al Habsi, Chief Programmes Officer at Emirates Foundation, said, "It's extremely important that we provide our youth volunteers with the unique opportunity exposed to different international environments and gain knowledge through learning the best international practices. "We work constantly to guide and inspire our youth to aim higher and achieve more to create a sustainable impact on our lives and the lives of others. The foundation thanks our partners for giving our volunteers the opportunity to learn and broaden their horizons." One of the goals of the trip was to provide Sanid volunteers with the chance to expand and broaden their communication skills and confidence, as well as enhance their knowledge through learning the CERT best practices first hand in the United States. Upon completion of training, the volunteers were tested and given a certificate of the advanced emergency response community. The volunteers were invited by the City of Dearborn, with the cooperation of the Michigan State Police and the Advanced CERT Training Committee, to take part in the programme between the 9th and 12th of December. Fatima Yousef Hassan Al Blooshi, a Sanid volunteer, said, "Our first trip to the United States as Sanid volunteers will be both extremely memorable and valuable to us on our journey in life. The experience we gained from attending advanced emergency response training has really lifted us all to another level of knowledge and expertise. I hope that we can all now use the knowledge and experience we acquired to help our own nation as well as others in the future." – Emirates News Agency, WAM
