RI, INDIAN INVESTORS URGED TO WORK TOGETHER IN FACING CRISIS
Bandung, West Java, Nov. 19 (ANTARA) - Indian investors and Indonesian businessmen are encouraged to make synergetic efforts to deal with the impact of the current global financial crisis.
"In principle, there is a need for Indian investors and West Java businessmen to make synergistic efforts to deal with, and to protect each other from the impact of the current global financial crisis, particularly in the sectors of production and manpower," West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan said after receiving Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Biren Nanda here on Wednesday.
Ambassador Biren Nanda and Governor Heryawan at their meeting also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the sectors of industry, trade, education and culture.
A few Indian businessmen have invested in West Java Province especially in textile, garment and automotive industries which have absorbed a lot of manpower.
Indian investors have also invested in the steel and metal industries in East Java and South Sulawesi provinces.
Indian Ambassador Biren Nanda at the meeting expressed his commitment to intensifying cooperation with the West Java administration, which according to him, has huge potential in the cultural, art, education and industrial fields.
The Indian ambassador, who only assumed his post in Indonesia since last week, said his country would participate in an international cultural and art festival to be held in Bandung next December 2008.
