Dubai Culture announces curators for SIKKA Art Fair 2014

The Dubai Culture '&' Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate's dedicated Authority for culture, arts, and heritage, has announced the co-curators for the fourth edition of SIKKA, the contemporary artist-led fair aimed at nurturing and promoting Emirati and UAE-based talent.
Sheikha Wafa Hasher Al Maktoum, Founder and Director of FN Designs, and Japanese architect and programme director Kayoko Iemura, will co-curate the fourth edition of Dubai culture's fair, which will be held from March 15 to 25, 2014, at Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, the cultural nerve-centre of Dubai under ‘Dubai Art Season,' the city's umbrella arts initiative.
Joining the co-curators is Yusaka Imamura, the Art Advisor to the fair, who will work alongside Sheikha Wafa and Kayoko to identify the Emirate's aspiring and emerging visual, performing, musical, and cinematic artists. The three curators will also play a role in curating the programme for the overall ‘Dubai Art Season.' Khalil Abdulwahid, Manager of Visual Arts, Dubai Culture '&' Arts Authority, said: "With a consolidated 30 years of artistic experience between themselves, our curators and advisor will play a crucial role in identifying the next generation of artists, all of whom will collectively contribute to strengthening the city's cultural fabric.
"Having commissioned over 70 artists and 14 multi-disciplinary initiatives in the previous edition, we are confident that the fourth edition of SIKKA will underline ‘Dubai Art Season's' overarching goal of providing a definitive platform for emerging artists, across all disciplines." Dubai Culture is committed to underscoring the Emirati artistic heritage of Dubai and its vibrant contemporary arts environment, while offering a conducive environment to nurture and strengthen artistic talent in the Emirate. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
