Pahang Confident Of Getting Back Singaporean Tourists
SINGAPORE, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- The Pahang government is confident of getting back tourists from Singapore after a slight dip in their arrivals last year due to the 13th general election and closure of theme parks in Genting Highlands.
State Culture and Tourism Committee chairman Mohd Sharkar Shamsuddin said tourist arrivals from Singapore dropped by 28.65 per cent or 881,757 last year from 1.23 million in 2012.
He said there was a decline in visitor arrivals from Singapore to several tourist destinations, including Genting Highlands where the theme parks had been closed since last year for a massive makeover.
The target could be met as Pahang has lined up several tourism events, including the Kuantan International Music Festival in April, Fraser's Hill International Bird Race (June) and Royal Billfish Challenge in Rompin (August), he told reporters here Monday.
Mohd Sharkar is leading a delegation from the Pahang Tourism Office for a three-day visit to the republic to promote tourism products in Pahang.
Hotels and tour and travel agency operators from Pahang also took part in the visit.
