Syria War May Spell End Of Saudi Monarchy: Iraqi PM

Berlin, March 17, IRNA -- The Syrian war could ultimately lead to the fall of Saudi monarchy, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said Sunday in an interview with the Hamburg-based weekly news magazine Der Spiegel. He warned the Syrian conflict could gradually engulf the whole region. ˈThe regime in Jordan is already wobbling and the crisis will still spill over to Saudi Arabia too,ˈ Al-Maliki said. ˈYes the ruling (Saudi) family is in danger... it stands for an old form of rulership which is based on a sectarian persuasion,ˈ he added. Al-Maliki also accused Riyadh -- and indirectly Washington -- of prolonging the war in Syria arguing that they tell certain Syrian warring parties what to do./end
