Saudi-Turkish Joint Economic Committee holds session

SPA - Ankara, November 25, SPA -- The ninth session of the Saudi-Turkish joint economic committee will start its works later today.

The Saudi delegation is headed by the Minister of Transport, Dr.
Jubarah bin Eid Suraisri while the Turkish side is led by the
Minister of Finance Kemal Unakitan.

Investment relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the
Republic of Turkey have seen in the last four years a steady increase
in the total volume of trade exchange between the two countries.

Statistics confirm that the trade balance tilts in favor of Saudi
Arabia owing to the increased volume of oil exports to Turkey and
that Saudi imports from Turkey in the last four years more than
doubled to reach an amount of almost SR 2 .2 billion in 2004 to
SR 7.4 billion riyals in 2007.

The Saudi exports also increased from SR 5 .4 billion riyals
in 2004 to about
SR 8 .8 billion riyals in 2007.

Saudi economic relations with Turkey have developed over the past
years. Turkey has ranked 22nd among the top countries that Saudi
Arabia imported from in the same year.
