OVER 70 PERCENT OF SUBSIDIZED FERTILIZERS HAVE BEEN CHANNELED

Jakarta, Nov 25 (ANTARA) - The Agriculture Ministry said that up to October this year about 3.45 million tons of subsidized urea fertilizers had been channeled, or accounting for 73.80 percent of the target which was set at 4.5 million tons, a senior ministry official said.

Director General for Food Crops Sutarto Alimoeso said here on Tuesday that if the 3.45 million tons which were to be channeled up to October were calculated, the channeling of the subsidized fertilizer had indeed reached 96.04 percent.
"The provision of the fertilizer has included additional 200 thousand tons for the November and December 2008 period," he said.
In the meantime, of the the 800 thousand tons of SP-36 fertilizer which were initially expected to be channeled this year, only 508,169 tons (63.52 percent) have been channeled.
The realization in the channeling of ZA fertilizer meanwhile reached 620,747 tons of the planned 800 thousand tons this year, while the NPK fertilizer already provided was 753,718 tons of the planned 900 thousand tons, he said.
He said that the channeling of organic fertilizer up to October this year was recorded at 50,247 tons or 14.56 percent of the target at 345 thousand tons.
