EMERGING BUSINESS LEADERS WITH GOOD CHARACTERS TO MANAGE CRISIS

Jakarta, Nov 26 (ANTARA) - The Center of Corporate Leaders (CCL) in its 68th Leadership Forum here Wednesday concluded that Indonesia which is facing the current crisis needed business leaders who had integrity, creativity and competency to manage the existing changes.

The forum featured Sandiaga Uno who is Chairman of Permanent Committee for Small and Medium Enterprises of the Indonesian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Tony Chen who is President Director of PT. Microsoft Indonesia and Franciscus Welirang who is President Director of PT. Indofood Bogasari Flourmills.

"Never underestimate the human capacity. During the time of crisis, new business leaders are emerging," Sandiaga Uno said at the first session of the forum with the theme "Emerging Business Leaders: New Leadership and New Paradigm".

He said that the turbulence like the monetary crisis in 1997-1998 resulted in new ideas such as democracy, small and medium enterprises which grew as the main power in Indonesia's economy and new business leaders.

Thus, he expected in the current financial crisis the new business leaders would emerge to contribute their extraordinary ideas.
Meanwhile Chen remarked that great people with good characters who live the values, think and do big things and lead by examples formed the role of a leader.

This has proven by sharing his leadership skill which was supported by the whole management team to run the company that resulted in good achievements for PT Microsoft Indonesia as the best subsidiary in the emerging market category over two consecutive years - 2007 and 2008 - setting aside 40 other countries.

In the meantime, Welirang said that clear vision was highly important in a way a business leader direct and motivate in crisis time besides passion, consistency, along with good communications and relations.
