PRESIDENT HAS NO COMMENT ON POHAN'S ARREST

Cibinong, W Java, Nov 28 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Friday had no comment to make on the arrest of former Bank Indonesia deputy governor Aulia Pohan, his eldest son's father-in-law, by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday.
Presidential spokesman Andi Malarangeng who accompanied the head of state at a function marking the declaration of National Tree Planitng Day in Cibinong, West Java, said the president was sticking to the stance he had expressed early November when Pohan was formally named a suspect in the misuse of funds of a BI-supervised foundation.
"The president already made a direct comment on the legal process against Aulia Pohan some time ago, and what he said then still stands," Malarangeng said.
When Pohan was formally declared a suspect in the corruption case early November, the president said, as a person he was "sad" about what was happening to Pohan. "But as the head of state and government, I must respect and will not interfere in the legal process" against Pohan.
Pohan's daughter, Annisa, is married to the president's eldest son Agus Harimurti.
The KPK arrested Pohan on Thursday after he was named a suspect in the illegal spending of Rp100 billion in Indonesian Banking Development Foundation (YPPI) funds together with three other former BI deputies governor --Maman Sumantri, Bun Bunan Hutapea and Aslim Tadjuddin
