Jakarta, Nov. 28 (ANTARA) - The number of dengue fever cases in Jakarta reached 25,205, including four fatalities, this year, according to a hospital spokesperson.
The number was expected to increase to around 40,000 cases in 2009, coinciding with a five-year raining cycle, Ani Reputrawati of Persahabatan Hospital said here on Friday.
According to data of the Jakarta health service, up to November 2008, the dengue fever cases were recorded at 25,205 and four of the patients had died of the disease, she said.
She reminded the people to be on alert of dengue fever in the current rainy season as the dengue fever cases tended to increase every year.
