Denpasar, Nov 28 (ANTARA) - Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and his 60-member entourage is expected to arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport here on Friday evening before heading to Jakarta to meet President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, a local government official said.
"The Indian president is expected to arrive at Ngurah Rai Airport tonight aboard an Indian presidential plane," Bali provincial administration spokesman I Nyoman Puasha Aryana said here on Friday.
Nyoman said Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika and Provincial Legislative Assembly (DPR) Speaker Ida Bagus Putu Wesnawa would greet the Indian president at the airport.
After taking a rest at the Ngurah Rai airport's special room for state guests for a while, the Indian president and his entourage would be driven to a hotel in the Jimbaran area, some 35 km south of Denpasar.
Next morning, on Saturday, President Pratibha Devisingh and his entourage would visit the Taman Ayun resort in Mengwi subdistrict, Badung district.
Taman Ayun resort is one of three areas in Bali which have been proposed by the Indonesian government as world cultural heritages.
Puasha Aryana said Governor Mangku Pastika would host a banquet for President Pratibha at Jaya Sabha before the Indian head of state leaves for Jakarta on Sunday morning.
The Indian president would be in Indonesia until December 3 in his bid to step up relations between the two countries in the fields of politics, economy, trade, investment, and tourism.
In Jakarta, four cooperation agreements between India and Indonesia on youth and sports, oil and gas, agriculture, and student exchange program would be signed before the two countries' leaders.
Indonesia and India have had a long historic relations since hundreds of years ago after the entry of religious and cultural influence from India into Indonesian archipelago.
The two countries in 1951 signed Friendship Agreement as the first step to construct a stronger brotherhood, and in Asian-African Conference in 1955, India was one of co-sponsors of the historic conference in Bandung.
Efforts to maintain and improve good relations between the two countries entered a new phase when President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono visited the country in November 2005.
