Dubai Municipality implements more market projects

Dubai (WAM): Dubai Municipality has carried out many projects to set up markets in the emirate such as Al Fahidi Market, Traditional Market, Truck Market , Pet Market and a fish market in Hamriyah area, Deira.
These markets, established under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, are expected to give a big leap in the economic growth of the emirate and add several new tourist attractions in the city of Dubai that always lives in the future, according to Hussein Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality.
"With regard to the bird market, based on proposals received by the assets management department on the establishment of a market for pet birds and animals, Dubai Municipality has established this market in line with international standards, consisting of 80 shops for selling pet birds and animals along with pet food and accessories, and a clinic for the treatment of these animals according to the most advanced methods and practices," he said.
"The municipality has conducted some surveys among public and customers which resulted in the adoption of a proposal to establish a market in the neighbourhoods that accommodate workers and technicians in all areas of work that could be needed by the public in their daily life," he added.
"Soon-to-open Al Fahidi Market will include a hyper-market and about 145 shops in addition to restaurants, cafeterias, jewellers and foreign exchange, and the traditional market has been established on the basis of ancient and modern traditional occupations held by the people of the U.A.E., such as Arabian Perfumeries, jalabiyas, sweets and some heritage items with the participation of Architectural Heritage Society," Lootah continued.
"The Truck Market will accommodate nearly 88 units for the sale of a large heavy-duty trucks. DM has coordinated with all heavy vehicle dealers in Dubai to build the market and a study was conducted regarding all the requirements, which will be opened at the end of this year," he said.
"Considering the lack of enough space and the growing demand for fish, vegetables and fruits, the municipality is establishing the fish and vegetable market in Hamriyah, replacing the old market. The market includes all relevant services such as the sale of fish, vegetables, fruits and related activities.
